in mathematics, the magnitude of a figure in a given direction, for example, the length and widht of a plot of ground, or the lenght, widht, and thickness of a box. Euclid defined a one-dimensional figure as one whose boundry consists of point; a two-dimensional figure, one whose boundary consists of curve; and three-dimensional figure, one whose boundary consists of surface. In analytic geometry, the number of co-ordinates needen to fix a point in space is called the dimension of the space. Thus, a line is one-dimensional; the plane; two-dimensional; and the ordinaryspace of experiance, three-dimensional.
